Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We had a salmon quiche that was light and fluffy, as well as a ham sandwich. The baguette was perfect, a crunchy shell, and fluffy interior. The almond pear tart paired wonderfully with the coffee. To top it all off, the chef made us a crepe with caramel, which was warm, sweet and utterly decadent. We left feeling like satisfied gluttons. We'll definitely be returning, 11/10 would reccomend."
"Angelique Café has been our favourite spot since the day they opened. Their Illy coffee is incredible, and their pain au chocolat and croissants are my kids’ top picks. Lately, we’ve been loving their ham-and-cheese galette. The moment you walk in, the French music, photos, and French-speaking team make it feel like a little piece of France in Halifax. My kids get a mini French lesson every visit. The owners and staff are warm, hands-on, and truly care about creating a great experience. Thank you, Angelique ! An absolute must-try."
"Quaint little spot. I tried the Paris brest...not as good as it sounds. Had a Cappuccino that was very good but very small size. A bit pricey but so is everywhere these days. It is worth checking this spot out and I will return to try something else because the atmosphere and the pkeasant staff."
"Magnifique café français! An authentic French café that you must visit. You can stop by for breakfast, lunch, or a snack - so delicious and fresh. We had the millefeuilles, chocolate croissants, and mocha for a first taste, but we will definitely be back to try more menu items and in their cute outdoor area. #Frenchcafe #halifax #staycation"
"The galette and quiche are tasty, the food are generally good! The service is excellent as one of our coffee was accidentally poured over the table and the floor and the staff quickly came and help us clean up the mess and made us a new cup of coffee."
"What a cute spot! Looks smaller from the outside, I ordered an almond croissant and a cappuccino. Both delicious. Croissant was perfectly flaky and not greasy (and WARM) . Cappuccino was good. Service was fast! Disappointed I wasn’t hungry enough because the paninis and quiches looked goooood. Price is comparable to similar spots!"
"Tried here for breakfast at 9am on a gorgeous October Saturday. Parking on Beech St wasn't an issue. Noticed a rear ground-level patio with some picnic tables with umbrellas, as well as small two-seater tables along the side of the cafe. These look perfect for a date or anyone who just prefers some privacy/not on top of other customers. Green turf adds a cute & clean feel. When you walk in, there are lovely window seats to your immediate right. I think there are five or six window seats in total, and not teensy/flimsy chairs or stools, but deep, bowled chairs that allow an ideal eating posture (something I find lacking at many places where you are slumped over a table, generally uncomfortable, etc). So great off the bat for that. Overall, a lovely Parisian atmosphere, without being over the top. You order at the counter and they bring your order to you. Friendly service. I tried the Galette Francaise, which was delicious. Quite a good size, cooked to perfection, with mixed greens on the side (unexpected). The ham, cheese & egg were excellent proportions. My simple iced latte in a mason jar was a good match. I will definitely be back to try more menu items and perhaps sit in the rear section to see what that's like (up a few steps, away from windows, looked like a few standard tables). Tres magnifique!"
"Wow, what a great find! Parking is challenging, as with everywhere in this area, but worth it. The Mille Feuille was the best we have ever had, the pastry was so flaky and the pastry creme so flavorful. Great ambience... Seems busy so we were happy to have found a table. Will definitely return to try a crepe."
